We meet Ta'asha at the local post office off the main road and followed her up the narrow winding road up to the farm. When we arrived we met her husband Manny and his friend. They are the only ones that run the farm! After introductions we started the tour, Immediately we were greeted with the wonderful aroma of Gardenias. (If you don't know what they smell like, GO check it out!) They are so fragrant!
Our next stop was Paul Mitchell's living area. It was such a surreal experience. All the rooms are separate, The bedroom, the kitchen, and the restroom/shower. There was also a guest room with attached bathroom. It is the perfect escape from the day to day hustle of city living, Also, on the property is a living area for John Paul Dejoria, they are separated by a pond full of Koi fish, John Paul Mitchell Systems is a farm to product company with Awapuhi Wild Ginger. Meaning they own the land, they harvest, and they produce it all "in house". Next on the tour was the cleaning and drying area. This is where they take the harvested root of the Awapuhi plant clean it and set it out to dry. From there they mill it into a super fine powder and send to the the factory where they "re-gelify' the powder. Mix it in and BAM you've got shampoo, conditioner etc... I enjoyed my time there, and learned so much., Not just about the farming, but about Paul Mitchell. Seeing what someones dream could accomplish is eye opening. I can't wait to see where my dreams take me. Stay tuned!
