It's been about a week since we landed back in Texas and I already got to implement everything thing I learned last weekend. I am beyond grateful I got the opportunity to attend the Kelly Cardenas Academy and it was such a pleasure to meet Brooklyn and Kelly, Not only did I learn awesome braiding/color techniques, they also inspired me in my everyday life. We had a meet a greet then jumped right into braiding. This portion was taught by Brooklyn who was the creative master mind behind KSC Weddings. Her passion for teaching and up-dos is infectious. She melted different braiding technique so effortlessly to create fun up-styles for all occasions. I really learned to think outside the box and to combine styles makes for a more creative and personal styling
The second part of the academy was my most anticipated portion. Blonding & Balayage! I always see classes on blonding, but being a Paul Mitchell salon I loved the idea of sticking with "my brand" (I'll have a PM culture blog in the future) I love color! It's so creative and tricky, so I love seeing what new ideas/styles are out there. Everyone is unique and no two formulas or applications are the same. My favorite thing was the tiny details that are saving me (and my clients) time! Minor things such a hand placement really has an impact in your speed and as we all know, time is money. The last segment was the most eye opening. Kelly is so passionate, not only about the hair industry, but about people! Teaching, inspiring, guiding and building them. He and his wife were absolutely motivating and their enthusiasm just penetrates your soul. You would think it was all about hair and how to build your business and make a boat load of money, but it was so much more. Balance, I first learned about balance at Paul Mitchell the School Houston. Yes, I've read/heard about it, but when you're in the middle of the movement you really get a clear understanding of what it truly means. They just reinforced my weekly struggle of trying to stay balanced in all aspects of life. For me its, mother, wife, sister, daughter, business owner, etc etc. That was only one day!! I had an incredible time. We reconnected while 'winging it' the rest of the time in sunny and COLD California. No schedule, no rushing, no time table.... just being in the moment. Let me know if I should post more pics of the whole weekend!
