It's been a while, but I'm back! Hopefully I can post more consistently.
This week I learned Barbie is a Pisces like ME!! Yes, Barbie, as in Mattel, Ken, etc. I have been a huge fan since I can remember, She helped me hone in my hairdressing skills at a young age.

I had the most amazing time in Kona, Hawaii, While on my family vacation I had to make a stop at the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Farm. As in Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger hair care line! I learned so much! The family that maintains the farm are very knowledgeable, super friendly, and welcoming.

Healthy Hair

Since I'm still trying to get in the groove of blogging, I was having trouble trying to thin what I should share next. Since I live in Texas and the weather is bipolar (hot, cold, raining and humid - and all in the same day) it hit me, Healthy hair.

There are so many treatments, oils, shampoos, masks etc, but whats the real secret to healthy hair? I, like everyone. have my own hair struggle (yes, even hairdressers have hair issues) No two heads are created equal. Things that effect the integrity of your hair include: processing (coloring, perms, relaxers etc) nutrition, heredity, and environment - just to name a few.

Processing your hair in any way changes the balance of your hair leaving it brittle, thin and fragile. The best way to prevent and maintain this is by going to a professional from the start. Your hair care professional has all knowledge and products to make sure you're getting the results you want the healthiest way possible. Your stylist has a prescription for your at home care as well. This is crucial in maintaining your hair between visits.

Another big one is Nutrition and heredity. There are certain symptoms that can be corrected with proper health and nutrition, while other issues can't be avoided, but maintain with meds. If you are concerned about changes with your hair, call your health care provider and get it checked out.

Where you live, occupation, or your recreational activities can effect your hair tremendously also. Extreme heat, or cold, the ocean, even your hard water from your shower can play a role in way your hair looks and feels.

Let me know in the comments what your hair concern or what helped aid in repair/maintenance and always listen to your hairdresser when they recommend take home! They want to preserve their work for the future.

It's been about a week since we landed back in Texas and I already got to implement everything thing I learned last weekend. I am beyond grateful I got the opportunity to attend the Kelly Cardenas Academy and it was such a pleasure to meet Brooklyn and Kelly, Not only did I learn awesome braiding/color techniques, they also inspired me in my everyday life.
